If Only Plants Could Sing

I met Joe Patitucci many years ago. His work immediately struck me as something beyond science, beyond technology. Through PlantWave, Joe had found a way to give voice to the invisible, to make audible the subtle electrical rhythms within plants.

Since then, our paths have intertwined in beautiful ways. I invited him twice to perform with me at Habitas Tulum, where the jungle became our stage and the plants our collaborators. Later, he invited me to join him for the PlantWave official showcase at SXSW, where we explored the same idea in a completely different landscape.

What I admire most about Joe is not just the innovation behind PlantWave, but the intention that guides it. His work is a reminder that nature is never silent. Every tree, every leaf, every root is in constant dialogue. What he offers is not a spectacle, but a bridge that allows us to listen again.

That same philosophy lives at the heart of my Living Room Listening Sessions. These gatherings are about dissolving the boundaries between artist and audience, sound and silence, human and nature. When PlantWave becomes part of that space, something extraordinary happens. The plants join the ensemble. The conversation expands. And the room begins to feel like a living organism breathing through sound.

For me, this collaboration is not about merging art and science, but about remembering that they were never separate. It is an invitation to listen more deeply, to slow down, and to recognize the quiet intelligence of the natural world that surrounds us.

Technology, when guided by curiosity and reverence, can bring us closer to nature rather than further away. That is what Joe and I explore together.

A listening practice that connects us back to life itself.

Join us this coming Nov 14 in Los Angeles.
